heart allegiance

....This afternoon as I wended my way along Wharf street in the sparkling spring warmth, peeking into shop windows, listening to the hum of lunch-eaters on the pub patios, and glancing appreciatively at the inner harbour, with its sailboats bobbing...... i admitted to loving Victoria. I truly love it here now. I'm not saying it has usurped Montreal's place in my heart. That could never be. Only that I really love it here.

Victoria has the old-country charm of Quebec City, and the fresh newness of westcoast B.C. combined in an almost perfect result. There is enough design and fashion to satisfy me and 'caché' to satisfy me. But hardly any presumption. Just freshness.

I walked past the ivy-walled Empress with the Olympic range mountains as a backdrop, and dropped into the B.C Heritage museum for a dose of history. On my way back i dipped into The Patch, my favourite vintage store, and a local gallery of uvic students. A well spent afternoon.

Anyone coming to visit me soon??
