Yah, i wanted to use these images b/cause the red skirt stands out so much when you remove the colour from the rest of the image. ( and b/cause you're so beautiful catherine!)
I love the effect....it reminds me of the little girl in the red coat in Schindler's List... the lone color amidst the smoke and soot of the crematoriums....but Catherine is infinitely more joyous!
The beautiful thing about the red dominance (saturation? What's it called?) is that everyone still has normal skin tone, so they seem so alive and vibrant in juxtaposition with the black and white environment. It's lovely.
Yah, that's true Roxanne, they used to hand paint on photographs to get the same effect. When there's a splash of colour on an otherwise desaturated image, the faces could look more bland, or even dead without a bit of natural colouring.
Leah... I think the picture of TG on the blançoire is fabulous! the movement as well as the color join the picture of your red Dancer. There is a lot of emotion and motion in this photograph. It's feels a bit "catch me if you can" but in some sort of natural way. it is truly beautiful. The light is also particularly intense. Love it.
on the oder hand the second picture seem to static. there is a need for more of everything in that one. TG is still beautiful, but the picture doesn't promulgate enough meanings...
well... who Am I to say... really... I think i have i special attraction to your sence of movement. like if your were suprisingly getting something nobody else could. Same thing with the photograph of Kelly annexed to the two photos of the washing machines. This one is my personal fav of that serie. Kelly as such an amazyng presence and you're arrangement is as interesting as the look on her eyes...
Tak...merci!! encore.....tu est tellement encouragent. i feel like an artist when you comment on my work. i agree with you, the image of Catherine standing is too static. sometimes images even of people standing still, can be more dynamic, but this one isn't. it's true that you can evoke the feeling of motion, without the subject in your image being in motion.

I think I bought that red skirt for Kelly in Paris (right Kell?)
It's cropped up in a few places since then...
