P.E.I.

Yes, our lovely destination was Prince Edward Island, formerly known as Abegweit ( so named originally by the natives to the island ). There is always a soft, sweet wind blowing across the island. The almost uncanny combination of red sand, blue of sky and sea, and green of evergreen and sweet grass is stunning. This place is small , and friendly. Jam-packed with little fishing villages and marinas, with brightly painted fishing boats sitting proudly in a row. Famous for lobster and potatoes, and red and white painted lighthouses, P.E.I. is a treasure of Atlantic Canada. There is somehow an old irish feel to the island, especially when gazing off the red cliffs into the ocean, yet at the same time it has a fresh, delightful all-canadian feel.
We spent our days watching stars and sunrises. Burying our toes in the sand and picking shells along the beaches, swinging in a hammock, and just relaxing in general. It was so wonderful after all the busy-ness of the last months.
Oh, and of course the island is home to our beloved Anne of Green Gables, and the setting for all of L.M. Montgomery's timeless books. I persisted in using the term, in french, Anne aux maison de piment -verts ( green peppers ).
I recommend P.E.I. as a lovely atlantic retreat for anyone wanting to travel to a delightful place near to home.

I used the words delightful and lovely each twice in my description. Bad writing, but good indication of how it made me feel.
It is really " Anne et la Maison aux Pignons Verts "
